SPRINGVILLE – The man is in hospital after he crashed his vehicle, ran away from police and was found naked in a river in Hobble Creek Canyon on Friday, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said.
A 43-year-old man from Salem crashed his car nine miles through a canyon after fleeing a Utah County sheriff’s deputy, police said. Five police officers, including a K-9, followed the man in deep snow for two hours, almost four miles, and finally found him naked in the river, the sheriff’s office said.
The man was pulled from the river around 6:30 p.m. and had “significant abrasions,” severe hypothermia and lost consciousness, police said. He was taken to an off-road vehicle, which took him to a medical helicopter.
Officials have not released the man’s name and say more details will be given later.
